Abbey Middle School has 230 students who come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The school is housed on a large site within attractive grounds close to Mile road.
We are extremely proud of our reputation as an inclusive school that provides education of the highest quality. The contribution of everyone is highly valued and we work closely with the wider community in fostering attitudes and values, which will provide firm foundations for all our futures in an increasingly global society.
We have an excellent partnership with The Bedford Academy and some staff work across phase with them. The Middle school has put into place a primary based Key Stage 2 class system for Year 6 which includes a small Nurture group for students needing extra support.
In Key Stage 3 the students are placed into vertical Tutor Groups for Pastoral care and then follow the Curriculum which is based on the 'Secondary' model where they are taught by specialist Subject staff.
We believe that happy staff makes happy students and therefore a successful school.
Our school practises 'values education' which ensures that we all treat each other with respect and equality. We all work together to make our school a calm, yet exciting learning environment in which students find education irresistible and they gain enjoyment and success from their endeavours.
We actively encourage staff to have 'fun' in a blame free environment which allows us all to experiment with new ideas and creativity.
We believe each child is unique. Our aim is to
provide a broad and balanced curriculum enabling all
students to achieve and be successful
